Plant Manager – Precision Optics

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Plant Manager to lead our Precision Optics manufacturing site in Balzers, Liechtenstein. The role oversees all aspects of production, quality, engineering, customer service, facilities, maintenance and EH&S, ensuring safe, high‑quality output for our global customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the plant’s strategic direction to maximise growth, profitability and on‑time delivery.
• Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, fostering an engaged and motivated workforce.
• Manage the plant budget, product costs, DVC and MOH, and ensure P&L targets are met.
• Lead EH&S, facilities and equipment maintenance in line with corporate safety and environmental standards.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to achieve gross‑margin and cost‑saving goals.
• Recruit, develop, motivate and, when necessary, discipline staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred).
• More than 5 years of plant leadership in a multi‑shift, low‑volume/high‑mix environment.
• At least 3 years of P&L responsibility with proven budget management.
• Experience in optics manufacturing (fabrication, thin‑film coatings or assemblies) is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of optics fabrication, thin‑film coating and assembly processes.
• Understanding of environmental regulations and labour law.
• Strong business and management fundamentals (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation).
• Analytical, critical‑thinking and data‑driven decision‑making abilities.
