Legal SME Contractor – Review & Create AI Training Content

About the role

This is an hourly, remote contractor position where you will act as an Attorney/Lawyer Subject Matter Expert (SME) for AI training data. You will review AI‑generated legal responses, create high‑quality legal content, and provide detailed feedback to improve the accuracy and clarity of AI models.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI Training Content: design detailed prompts and produce gold‑standard legal outputs such as issue analyses, drafting examples, checklists, policies, and memos.
• Optimize AI Performance: evaluate and rank AI responses, enhancing correctness, clarity, defensibility, and risk awareness across a range of legal scenarios.
• Ensure Model Integrity: test AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading certainty, confidentiality risks, and bias; validate reliability and consistency throughout the workflow.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) with active bar membership (or eligibility) in at least one jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of professional legal experience in any practice setting (law firm, in‑house, government, or legal aid).
• Proven ability to perform issue spotting and structured legal analysis, including rule identification, application, and conclusion.
• Strong research skills for locating and synthesizing primary authority and accurate citation of statutes, regulations, and case law.
• Excellent drafting and editing abilities for contracts, memos, policies, pleadings, and other legal documents, with meticulous attention to detail.
