Accounting Subject Matter Expert – AI Training Contractor

About the role

We are looking for an Accounting Subject Matter Expert to work remotely on an hourly contractor basis. You will review and create AI‑generated accounting content, evaluate reasoning quality, and provide detailed feedback to improve model performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training material, including prompts, gold‑standard journal entries, explanations, close checklists, reconciliation logic and scenario analyses.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses for accuracy, clarity, completeness and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and best‑practice guidelines.
• Test model outputs for errors, misleading guidance, unsafe assumptions or bias and validate reliability across business scenarios.
• Identify bookkeeping, journal entry, accrual, reconciliation and financial‑statement presentation issues, and fact‑check technical accounting claims.
• Write high‑quality explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct accounting methods.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA/ACCA/CMA a strong plus.
• 5+ years of professional accounting experience (public accounting, industry, shared services or advisory).
• Deep knowledge of revenue/expense recognition, accruals, prepaid/deferred items, fixed assets, inventory, payroll basics and tax concepts.
• Proven ability to prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and month‑end close deliverables with auditability.
• Solid understanding of financial statements and internal‑control concepts.
• Minimum C1 English proficiency and ability to write clear, structured explanations.
• Self‑directed, reliable and able to deliver consistent quality in a remote, hourly workflow.
