Materials Scientist

About the role

We are looking for a Materials Science Subject Matter Expert to work remotely on an hourly contractor basis. You will review and create high‑quality AI‑generated materials science content, ensuring scientific accuracy, engineering reasoning and clear explanations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training prompts and gold‑standard answers covering metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, phase diagrams, heat treatment, mechanical testing, corrosion, nanomaterials and characterization.
• Evaluate, rank and provide detailed feedback on AI outputs to improve accuracy, terminology, structure‑property reasoning and overall relevance.
• Detect misleading claims, hallucinated properties, unsafe design suggestions and incorrect diagrams, and validate reliability across materials science use cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Polymer Science, Nanotechnology or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in materials research, engineering, laboratory work, manufacturing, teaching, technical writing or scientific review.
• Strong English proficiency (C1 level) and ability to deliver detailed written feedback.
• Self‑directed, reliable and able to work across time zones in a remote contractor workflow.
